Making a Course Visible

This guide walks you through the steps to make a Moodle course visible to students. By default, newly created courses may be hidden while instructors are building them. Making the course visible allows enrolled students to access course materials and participate in activities.

 Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure:

  1. You have an active Moodle instructor or editing teacher account.

  2. The course has been created and you are enrolled as a teacher.

 Instructions

  1. Click on your course → If the text is grey, it is invisible to students.

  2. Click on Settings

  3. Select Show from Course visibility

  4. Click on Save and display

 Tips & Notes

  • If you’re not ready for students to see all content, you can keep the course hidden and instead use Availability restrictions on individual activities.

  • A visible course still requires students to be enrolled or to self-enroll if that’s enabled.

  • Always double-check your course visibility at the start of the semester to avoid student confusion.
